Painting ^^
I haven't really been updating my blog too much lately.. Only because I've been super busy working on different paintings. So in the past couple weeks i completed one painting that i am super proud of, that I'm putting up in my room. It was originally going to be on a white canvas with colourful splatters.. But then i decided white is a little boring for me, so i decided to paint my canvas black. Just painting the canvas took about 4 days, but as soon as it was dry i couldn't wait to get the colours splattered! It was going to get super messy, so instead of using my painting easel i decided to paint it outside. With a brilliant combination of bright blue, lime green and rose red my picture turned out to be fabulous! Leave me comments or send me a message of what you think!

Varley; Week 6
This past week has been busy, I've been doing allot to help out my co-workers. Most of my day consists of working the front desk with Veronica. She assigns me different tasks every day. Some include, shredding unneeded papers, cleaning up supply closets, making sure the community room is always ready for the next art class, delivering flyer's all over main street and walking through the gallery at the end of the day to make sure everything is perfect. With this week being full of things to do, the time just seems to fly by.

Interview

For my art project i had to interview an elderly person to get their opinion on some things. So i interviewed my grandmother. Here's how the interview went:

Question1: What were some activities you did as a child?
Answer1: As i child i was very poor and didn't have any real toys. So we use to make our own fun. I never had enough money for a doll, so my mother use to make me one out of a tea towel. Me and my friends use to play jump rope, play with little bouncy balls, hopscotch, tag, and even use to make up silly games on our own.

Question2: Did being poor affect you a lot as a child?
Answer2: Yes sometimes it did. Although it would have been nice to have toys like all the other children, being poor has taught me a lot about life.

Question3: What did being poor teach you?
Answer3: While being poor and growing up with no father, was really rough me my mom and my 7 brothers and sisters fought through it. I learned that not everyone has enough money to feed their families so that they will be full after dinner. So you should never throw anything away that can be reused. Being wasteful is a sin!

Question4: Do you think your life would of been different if you were not poor?
Answer4: Yes, for the most part. Although i wouldn't say I'd rather have a different life. Living the life i lived taught me a lot about myself and the others around me. Growing up poor makes you look at life with a whole new perspective. Its a way to teach people not to take anything for granted, because some where there's someone who wishes they had your life. Even if its not the best.

At The Gallery

Today at the gallery...
I have been spending most of my time cleaning up the supply room, it was such a disaster! After that i have been filling in at the front desk, also researching my project. I came to the conclusion that i am going to interview my Grandmother this weekend to gain some more background information about her life and hopefully she can tell me some stories that will inspire me even more about my piece of work.

At the Varley Art Gallery
I have been really busy for the last two days, mostly helping at the reception desk. There was tons to learn, and I'm surprised i even remember how to do half the things i was taught. Although it can be very stressful and busy, working the front desk, it's good experience for me to have. I also have started a little bit on my project. I don't have anything but ideas and a rough sketch at this point. I'm thinking by the time I'm done, my project is going to be a beautiful painting done with acrylic paints. The main theme for my project is going to be "We Survive Around The Heart". Through every ones lives, we have all experienced disaster, heart break, sadness, and even terror no matter what generation you are from we all experience the same thing. That's what my painting will be based on.
